For the fourth year in a row, in honor of National Roofing Week, the NRCA has held a Children's Art Contest. The contest is part of National Roofing Week and promotes awareness of the importance of having a roof to grade school-age children, showing them the value of professional roofing contractors in their communities.
The contest was open to children in grades 1-8 who are relatives of NRCA members and their employees. In preparation for a child's participation, NRCA encouraged roofing professionals to talk to children about what they do as roofing contractors and why their jobs are important. This not only gives children ideas about what to draw, but also educates them about the value of roofing professionals.
Winners from each group were selected based on the artwork that most effectively illustrated the importance of a roof. Visitors to NRCA's website voted for their favorite entry in each group, Group 1: Grades 1-2, Group 2: Grades 3-5, and Group 3: Grades 6-8.
